Try out that trend!
The world of fashion is always changing. Every season, every year it is something completely different. What was considered "in" 6 months ago might be totally out of style now. For someone like myself, who is still discovering my own personal style, the idea of trying out new trends is exciting! I've learned to embrace being unique and I love expressing my individuality through my clothes. The down side to trying out new trends, is that it can get expensive - quickly. Any given pair of shoes at a mall now a days is probably going to run you about $30 or even more if you are going for designer brands. Tops? Try $20 and up. So imagine spending $50 or more on one or two items, only for them to be dust magnets in your closet in a few months, especially if you're just trying to be on trend and might not even care for it sooner rather than later. Thrifting is the solution to not only build up a versatile wardrobe, but try out those trends we all see! I've never really cared for whats considered in style, or not in style for that matter - but I do look for inspiration everywhere. When I first started thrifting I didn't think I would ever find anything that was "on-trend" or "up to date" as far as style goes. I mean let's face it, when you think of a second-hand store your first thought is "it's stuff that people didn't want - it's probably crappy...old clothes." That is the farthest thing from the truth! Wanting to try out prints? My local Goodwill has racks full of tribal, floral ,and animal prints. Wanting to mix up your textures? Faux leather, velvet, denim - you name it, your thrift store has it. Do you think that 90's dress is old? No my dear, that's vintage and it happens to be making a serious comeback. I feel so much better about taking a fashion risk with a $3.49 shirt than I do with a $20 one. If I get it home and decide I was having a "what the hell was I thinking?" moment while purchasing..it's no big deal. If it gets destroyed by baby spit-up, I'm a lot less angry at myself because I know it wasn't expensive. So, next time you see that adorable put together outfit on Pinterest - skip the mall and hit up your local thrift store! Don't be afraid to try out that trend & have fun doing it for less. Remember, confidence really is the most beautiful thing a woman can wear, so no matter what your size, age or style - be unique and take risks! You just might discover a new part of your style. Don't hesitate to leave a comment or even send me a picture of that new trend you tried - I love seeing people's fashion diversity :)
